Chickie Treat

Good morning!!
 I'm sure you are well aware of the sub arctic temps we are having in our neck of the woods fields at the moment. Let me assure you that all the animals here on the farm have appropriate shelter. Some are even wearing blankets. I have been bundling up about 4-5 times each day and checking everyone's bedding, food, water and sometimes their temperature.....just to make sure.

Now lets talk chickens! I know... I know... big surprise right? Well I just love those feather brains, and I cant help it. Did you know chickens loooooooove oatmeal? Well they definitely do.

This morning I mixed up some nice hot oatmeal for my girls (and a couple boys) and they went crazy for it.

Its just quick oats and some dried fruit, put in enough water to warm everything up and give you a consistency of bread dough. This will come in handy when dishing it out.

I take the bowl of oats out to the coop then put scoops of it on a few little plates so everyone gets their fair share

Did I mention they loooooooved it?

After their warm breakfast everyone hopped right back up on the roosts to snuggle.
